Movie Review: Girl's Trip

Movie Review: Girl's Trip

Let me start by saying this...YOU NEED TO SEE GIRLS TRIP! Based on that opening sentence, I think its pretty clear what direction this review is going. Girls Trip is the feel good summer movie you and your girls (or guys) need. Girls Trip stars Queen Latifah, Regina King, Jada Pinkett- Smith and fresh face (to some, not all) Tiffany Haddish. The movie centers around four women, who after 5 years, meet up and head to Essence Fest for a mini reunion/ vacation.

Girls Trip is what you get when you mix four different personalities, hot guys, and too much alcohol. Haddish, who plays Dina, the out-of-the box, wild and crazy friend, is the breakout star of the film. She stole every scene she took part in and her comedic timing was damn near perfect. Pinkett, who played Lisa Cooper, the single mom and very uptight friend, brought humor to her prunish character. I loved watching Pinkett and Latifah on screen again, its been over 20 years since the two have shared a screen (Set It Off anyone?) Latifah played Sasha, the friend who takes no shit (we all have one), and she shined, as the Queen always does. Regina Hall played Ryan, who's personal drama was the center of the films story line. Hall mantra for herself throughout the film, "I am strong, I am powerful, I am beautiful," were encouraging words for the audience to take away. The four women had such beautiful chemistry that it felt like we were being treated by getting to peak into their friendship.

Girls Trip will make you laugh so hard your stomach aches, stomp your feet in frustration, dance in your seat and shed a tear or two. This weekend go see Girls Trip with a group of friends, you won't regret it!
