10 Thoughts on Episode 6 of Insecure

10 Thoughts on Episode 6 of Insecure

I have to be honest, this episode was my least favorite so far this season. It's not that I hated it, it just wasn't as good as the others. Putting that aside, I still had a couple of thoughts. Read on for my spoiler review of episode 6 of Insecure.

1. Hella Awkward

Molly's phone conversation with Dro was so awkward. I'll give it a slight pass because she just had sex with her married best friend but he was her married best friend before she had sex with him. So... why you acting like that Molly? She acted impulsively and now she can barely hold a conversation with the dude. I was on the Molly train since last season but as of lately I had to hop off. Her reaction to her father's affair is so elementary. Get over it and answer your mom's calls. Instead of whining about how imperfect your parents marriage is, talk to your mother and figure out how she made it work and what made her stay. Here's my unpopular opinion: not every affair warrants a divorce. Some marriages are worth holding on to.

2. Who's Fred Hampton?

I love the wardrobe choices for Issa this season. She's been wearing tops that have a message, mostly centered around the Black community. In this episode she wore a shirt that read, "The FBI killed Fred Hampton." I was immediately prompted to research who Fred Hampton was. I learned that Hampton was a Black Panther activist that was murdered while he was in bed sleeping. According to Hampton's Wikipedia page, the Chicago Tribune reported his death as a consequence of "a wild gun battle" initiated by Hampton and six other members of the Black Panther Party against police. I applaud the show's stylist for taking a risk by putting this sweatshirt on Issa because I now know who Fred Hampton is and his fight is greatly appreciated.

3. Two L's, One Night

Who would've thought it would be so hard to get the d? I guess "n***as ain't ready." If you read my last episode recap about the slang term YEET, this moment is a perfect example of what the work means. By the way, Issa ranting in the bathroom about her rejection was hilarious. I was in tears.

4. Oh, Now You Value Your Friendship

Where was this sense of morality when you pulled him into your room Molly? That's all for the thought. Molly is confused. I'm not here for it.

5. Where's Candice?

Dro got a lot of time for a married man. Candice is just conveniently never around. I guess she's off doing what people in open relationships do. I just don't know how Dro, or Molly, will explain their feelings for each other. It looks to be more than a hookup and I don't know if this will fly with Candice.

6. Issa's So Thirsty

Issa killed me with that Victoria Secret bra popping out of her shirt. It's not even a look. I know she was going for thirsty chic look but she as trying way too hard. She had on the most cliche "I'm a hoe" outfit. Issa's so out of touch its hilarious. On another note, I really hate how she treated Nico. She was actually being a dick. Nico only wanted to respect Issa, what the hell was she giving him an attitude for?

7. Thanks For The Diversity, Pal.

How can Lawerence grow if his bosses are afraid to critique him? It's crippling for them to be sensitive to his feelings. To be an effective employee, Lawerence needs to be given the same opportunity to learn like the rest of his co-workers. Instead they want to ask him about his damn sneakers.

8. Blow Job, Good Job

I feel like as a black women I should want to go in on the "white women give blow jobs and that's how they take our men" conversation but I don't really feel the need to. Listen, if you like giving blow jobs then by all means go right a head (no pun intended). If you don't, then don't. No judgement should be had on either side. And if that's all it takes to keep a man's attention, then f**k him, he lacks serious substance. There's more to any woman than her ability to give oral, any decent man should know that.

9. Looking Real Dumb There, Molly

That bubble bath looked real nice. That salty look Molly had on her face when Dro left to be with his wife wasn't. Molly was in La La Land and completely forgot the ring belonged to Moonlight, I mean Candice. Dro is married to Candice which translates to: Candice will always come first.

10. Buuuutttt...

HA! The last scene of episode 6 was hilarious. At least I thought it was. I actually don't understand why Issa was so upset. Daniel warned her! Or did she dose off during that portion of that Blow Job, Good Job class? I was laughing so hard in that last scene that I almost missed the white girl in the Uber Pool asking the driver to switch to the "black station," once Issa got into the car. Girl, bye. Anyways...
